What is a CSA and how does it work?

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture: you buy a share of the farm's harvest before the season, and all season long you receive a weekly (or biweekly) box of certified-organic vegetables. You're not just buying produce — you're backing the farm that grows it.

How much does the Tiny Seed Farm CSA cost in 2027?

The Summer Small share is $576 for 18 weeks ($32/week, feeds 1–2 people). The Summer Large is $756 ($42/week, for families). Biweekly options are half. The Fall share is $180 for 6 weeks. The new Salad CSA is $15/week. Home delivery adds $15/week. Returning members get $36 off summer and bundle shares with code WELCOMEBACK through December 15.

Is there a spring CSA in 2027?

Not this year — we're pouring our spring energy into the Lawrenceville, Bloomfield, and Sewickley farmers markets. If you want spring vegetables, Farm Flex dollars spend at our market stands all season, and summer shares start in June.

Where do I pick up my share?

At any of our neighborhood stops across greater Pittsburgh — including Squirrel Hill, Mt. Lebanon, Lawrenceville, Highland Park, Sewickley, Fox Chapel, Zelienople and more — or at the farm in Rochester on box day. Or skip pickup entirely with home delivery. If there's no stop near you, gather 12–15 neighbors and we'll start one on your street; hosts get 25% off.

Can I customize my box?

Yes — your member portal lets you set preferences and request swaps, and the Farm Flex option is fully build-your-own. Our survey said members wanted customization that actually works, so that's been a major focus for 2027.

What if I'm away one week?

Put your box on vacation hold in the member portal, or have a friend grab it — someone else can always pick up your share.

Are you certified organic?

Yes — OEFFA certified. Not 'practically organic' or 'beyond organic': inspected, certified, the real thing, on land that's been farmed organically for over fifty years.

Are you the Kretschmann farm?

We grow on the historic Kretschmann Family Organic Farm in Rochester, PA — the farm that started one of Pittsburgh's first CSAs in 1993. When Don and Becky Kretschmann retired, Todd Wilson, a former Kretschmann employee, brought Tiny Seed Farm home to their land to carry the work forward. If you were a Kretschmann member, your tradition has a home here.

Can I cancel my membership?

We plant based on how many families sign up, so we ask members to commit to the season. If circumstances change, you can pause, transfer, or donate your share — write to us and we'll figure it out together.

Is paying upfront hard for your household?

Talk to us. Between biweekly shares, the $60 Salad CSA trial, Farm Flex amounts starting at $150, and our Pay-It-Forward community fund, there's usually a way in. Email todd@tinyseedfarmpgh.com.
