Job Openings at Tiny Seed Farm

Tiny Seed Farm is an organic vegetable farm located in Western PA. We are dedicated to sustainable farming practices and providing high-quality produce, flowers, and mushrooms to our CSA members, farmers' markets, restaurants, and grocery stores. We are seeking hardworking, team-oriented individuals to join our farm crew for the 2025 season.


Vegetable Field Team

Summary

The Vegetable Field Team is responsible for all aspects of production, from planting to harvest, ensuring the success of our diverse vegetable crops. Team members will gain hands-on experience in all areas of small-scale organic farming.

Responsibilities

  • General farm labor, including groundskeeping and basic maintenance.

  • Operating farm equipment (walk-behind tractors, mowers, trucks, etc.).

  • Soil cultivation, amendments, and organic pest and disease management.

  • Seeding, greenhouse management, transplanting, and harvesting.

  • Washing, packing, and organizing produce for sales.

Qualifications

  • Farming experience preferred, but we will train the right candidate.

  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to work in a team.

  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions (heat, rain, wind, and cold).

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs and perform repetitive physical tasks.

Compensation

  • $15+/hr based on experience.

  • Positions start between February and April 2025.


Flower Harvester

Summary

The Flower Harvester plays a vital role in the harvest and post-harvest care of over 150,000 stems of cut flowers each season, ensuring product quality and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Harvest flowers in collaboration with the farm team.

  • Organize and store flowers in the walk-in cooler.

  • Assist with transplanting, weeding, and other farm tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • Willingness to learn and retain plant names.

  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and work efficiently.

  • Physical endurance and ability to work in all weather conditions.

  • Reliable transportation.

Compensation & Schedule

  • $15+/hr based on experience.

  • Up to 21 hours/week; Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

  • Employment runs from June through September, with potential work in October.


Flower Field/Production Crew

Summary

Field/production crew members play a crucial role in growing, maintaining, and harvesting high-quality flowers for farmers' markets, CSA, and wholesale accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Planting, transplanting, and greenhouse seeding.

  • Hand weeding, mulching, trellising, and general crop maintenance.

  • Harvesting flowers, handling post-harvest processing, and assembling bouquets.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work efficiently in all weather conditions.

  • Detail-oriented, hardworking, and adaptable.

  • Flower farming experience preferred but not required.

  • Reliable transportation.

Compensation & Schedule

  • $15+/hr based on experience.

  • Part-time (24 hrs/week) and full-time (32–40 hrs/week) available.

  • Positions run from March through September, with potential work in October.


Farmer’s Market Team Manager

Summary

The Farmer’s Market Team Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of our market presence, ensuring efficient operations, a visually appealing display, and strong customer engagement. This position is key to optimizing sales and maintaining Tiny Seed Farm’s connection with the community.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and oversee market setup, ensuring a consistent, attractive product display.

  • Manage the market team schedule and workflow.

  • Maintain detailed sales records to optimize product selection.

  • Engage with customers, provide product education, and foster community relationships.

  • Maintain and grow the farm’s email list and direct marketing efforts.

  • Ensure quality control and proper inventory management at the market.

Qualifications

  • Experience with sales, retail, or farmers’ markets preferred.

  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.

  • Knowledge of vegetables and their culinary uses.

  • Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments.

  • Reliable transportation.

Compensation & Schedule

  • $16+/hr based on experience.

  • Seasonal position, with potential for extended employment.
